PEORIA, Ill. – The results are now official, and a Peoria Public School Board member has, as far as the total is concerned, officially lost his seat.
The Peoria County Election Commission has certified the results from the June 28th primary election, and Dan Walther lost his seat on the board from District 2, by just 19 votes to newcomer Paris McConnell.
Incumbent and school board president Greg Wilson retained his seat, as three candidates were running for the two open seats.
Walther still has five business days to request a recount, which so far has not happened. Wilson and McConnell would take their oaths of office later this month.
Of note, one voter in the district voted for all three candidates, while nearly 2,000 under-voted.
Overall, voter turnout in Peoria County for the primary totaled officially at 18.19%.
