PEORIA, Ill. – Freezing cold temperatures and wind chills far below zero will keep most of us inside most of the weekend.
But, 25 News Meteorologist Baliant Szalavari says we’ll also see our next round of accumulating snowfall too.
25 News has designated both Saturday and Sunday First Alert Weather Days.
“Saturday for the cold, Sunday for the snowfall. Widespread wind chills of -15 to -25 are expected Saturday morning and will remain sub-zero through the entire day. A Winter Storm system will then bring widespread snowfall Saturday night through Sunday morning,” Szalavari said.
Lingering snow showers will be possible into the early Sunday afternoon before the snow comes to an end.
“Widespread accumulations of 3-6 inches is expected across Central Illinois with the greatest amounts possible near and east of I-55. Travel will be difficult with road conditions steadily expected to worsen throughout Saturday night into Sunday morning,” Szalavari said.
Several winter weather advisories will be in effect throughout the weekend. Stay with 1470 and 100.3 WMBD for the latest winter weather information.
