PEORIA, Ill. (25 News) – Peoria Police are investigating a shooting early Friday morning that left a 17-year-old girl with a gunshot wound to the leg.
PPD told 25 News that just after 2:30 a.m., officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert that indicated 15 rounds were fired in the 600 block of S. Western Avenue on Peoria’s South Side.
Police did not find any victims at the scene, but about 10 minutes later, they learned a teenage girl arrived at a hospital after being shot in the leg. Her injuries were described as minor.
The girl told police she was inside a vehicle when the gunfire began. She was reportedly shot by an unknown suspect.
PPD has not released any suspect information.
