PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria firefighters were called to a structure fire in the area of E. LaSalle Street and N. Indiana early Saturday morning.
Fire Battalion Chief Josh Martin says crews arrived about 7:00 a.m., finding a home with heavy fire showing from the roof.
No one was inside the home.
Due to the heavy fire on the roof, crews had to perform defensive operations.
Firefighters were eventually able to re-enter the home to put out the remaining hot spots. Due to the extreme cold, additional fire companies were called to the scene.
An Arson Investigator determined the cause of the fire was accidental in nature. Estimated damage is $75,000.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
