PEORIA, Ill. — An investigator dispatched to a house fire on W. Wiswall Saturday determined the cause to be arson.
Peoria Firefighters/Paramedics were dispatched to 2206 W. Wiswall Saturday around 2:30 p.m. to a report of a house fire.
The first crew on scene reported a fully involved fire on the main floor of a story and a half home with flame and smoke impinging on the home at 2208 W. Wiswall. Crews directed fire streams on the next door home to protect it from fire and smoke damage.
The fire was brought under control in 15 minutes of arrival, but the home suffered major heat and structure damage that is estimated at $50,000, according to Rick Morgan, a Peoria Fire Department battalion chief.
No one was found inside after a search was conducted in both homes.
Crews remained on scene to wet down hot spots.
