PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria High School’s boys’ basketball coach has been formally charged by prosecutors for allegedly trying to solicit a minor.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says 41-year-old Daniel Ruffin was ordered released from jail on Wednesday after being charged with Indecent Solicitation of a Child and Grooming.
Prosecutors say Ruffin was released because of no prior criminal convictions, but released with conditions.
Ruffin must be on GPS electronic monitoring, have no contact with the 16-year-old victim, and have no unsupervised contact or text or social media communications with minors not in his immediate family.
Ruffin was arrested on Monday after Peoria Police officers responded to Peoria High, and viewed text messages on the victim’s phone that were alleged to be inappropriate.
