PEORIA, Ill. – Three people were shot and one of them was pronounced dead at the scene Saturday night at a home in the 4000 block of W. Virden Ct. Further information gathered by Peoria Police indicated a party was happening at the home.
Upon arrival, around 10:30 p.m., officers located an adult female victim with a gunshot wound to the head. She was pronounced dead at the scene and later identified as 29-year-old Breanna Kelly.
The death is Peoria’s 22nd homicide of 2019.
The other victims, both males, sustained non-life threatening injuries. One of the males was found inside the home, while the other was seen fleeing the scene on Big Hollow Rd. at a high speed upon officer’s arrival.
Officers and detectives developed information at the scene that led to the identification of a suspect.
Marco D. Brown, 35, was taken to the Peoria Police Department to be interviewed. He was subsequently arrested for murder, aggravated battery, and aggravated discharge of a firearm. Brown was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said an autopsy demonstrated the Kelly suffered one gunshot wound to her midback. Based on the autopsy findings, Harwood said Kelly likely died instantly. There were no defensive wounds.
The incident remains under investigation.
