Former commander of Peoria’s 182nd Airlift Wing promoted to Brigadier General

PEORIA, Ill. – Illinois Air National Guard Director of Staff Colonel Steven Rice, and previous commander of Peoria’s 182nd Airlift Wing, has been promoted again, to Brigadier General.

The promotion was made official with a ceremony on Friday in Peoria at the Peoria Air National Guard facility. 

Rice will serve as the next Assistant Adjutant General – Air of the Illinois National Guard, as one of two Governor-appointed deputies to Major General Rodney Boyd.

Rice’s promotion was first announced by Governor J-B Pritzker at the end of December.
