PEORIA, Ill. – Fire displaced a South Peoria family of four on Sunday. Damage is estimated at $75,000.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Stephen Rada said crews were called to a home in the area of W. Montana and W. Wyoming Streets around 1:40 p.m., finding heavy smoke and fire coming from the second floor.
Family members said they were eating lunch when they smelled smoke. They all evacuated the home before firefighters arrived.
Rada said crews cut a hole in the roof to ventilate heat and smoke from the attic.
The Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing.
No injuries were reported.
