PEORIA, Ill. – More charges have been filed against Peoria High School boys’ basketball coach Daniel Ruffin.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office says the 41-year-old was charged Monday with Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, Indecent Solicitation of a Child, and Grooming. Prosecutors say the charges came after Ruffin allegedly had sexual conduct with a 17-year-old victim at Peoria High.
Ruffin was charged with Indecent Solicitation of a Child and Grooming last week for alleged inappropriate text messages to a 16-year-old female victim. At the time, he was released from jail under conditions, but is back in police custody.
Police received information on Thursday from the second victim, who is now 18 years old, that Ruffin allegedly engaged in sexual acts with her, with many acts reportedly occuring in his office at the school.
Prosecutors say police allegedly observed several explicit text messages from Ruffin to the student.
