PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Public Schools says two former high school basketball coaches at Peoria High and Richwoods are no longer employed by the district.
In a statement released Wednesday, Superintendent Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat says the district’s top priority is student safety and well-being.
The statement comes the same day that Ronald Ruffin resigned from the Richwoods girls’ basketball coaching staff over alleged inappropriate conduct levied on social media.
Former Peoria High boys’ basketball coach Daniel Ruffin remains in police custody after allegations levied by two students against him.
A 17-year-old female victim alleges she and Ruffin engaged in sexual acts, while a 16-year-old female victim alleges Ruffin engaged in inappropriate text messages with her.
