Peoria schools will be adding more manpower to deal with at-risk students.
The Peoria Board of Education Monday night approved the hiring of four additional family school liaisons to be stationed at Peoria High, Harrison, Lincoln and Glen Oak high schools.
Derrick Booth, Director of Social and Emotional Learning with Peoria schools, says the liaisons will involve the students families as well.
“They don’t mind knocking on doors. They don’t mind talking with families to meet the basic needs for a student.”
The additional cost of the contract with Family Core for the personnel is $122,898, but is being paid for from grants through the U.S. Department of Education.
