DIXON, Ill. – A former Dixon High School student who opened fire at a graduation practice four years ago has pleaded guilty.
Matthew Milby, 23, pleaded guilty Thursday in Lee County to a pair of counts of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and in exchange, other charges including Attempted Murder were dismissed.
Milby — who had reportedly been deemed unfit to stand trial in 2018 and 2019 — brought a semi-automatic rifle to Dixon High School, shooting at a gym teacher and a school resource officer. The officer shot back twice, injuring Milby.
Milby will be sentenced October 4.
