PEORIA, Ill. — A powerful storm system is expected to bring sustained winds of 25-35 miles per hour with occasional wind gusts around 50 miles per hour Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday afternoon.
“Wind-driven rain is expected to accompany the storm system and a squall line ahead of a cold front could result in scattered severe thunderstorms between 6:00 and 10:00 tonight (Tuesday),” 25 News Chief Meteorologist Chuck Collins said.
Collins said rain chances continue Thanksgiving Day through the weekend with a rain/snow mix expected at times.
A High Wind Watch remains in effect for the Peoria metro area through Wednesday afternoon.
