PEORIA, Ill. – A grand jury has indicted the former Peoria High boys’ basketball coach on multiple counts related to alleged sexual abuse and grooming of minors.
41-year-old Daniel Ruffin was indicted Tuesday on counts of Indecent Solicitation of a Child, Grooming, and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse.
Ruffin is alleged to have engaged in sexual acts with a 17-year-old in his office during school hours.
Court documents allege the act occurred between late-September 2024 and May of last year.
Ruffin also allegedly sent inappropriate text messages to a 16-year-old student at the school.
Ruffin is due back in court on March 12th for an arraignment hearing.
