PEORIA, Ill. – Firefighters were called to a home under construction in Peoria’s East Bluff Friday night.
Battalion Chief Larry Carter said crews arrived at a two-and-a-half story home in the area of N. Missouri and E. Illinois Avenues around 7:45 p.m., finding fire showing from the attic at the back of the structure.
Firefighters had the fire under control in about 20 minutes. The fire was contained to the attic, but the home suffered extensive smoke and water damage.
The home was empty at the time of the fire. No firefighter injuries were reported.
Damage is estimated at $80,000. The cause of the fire appears to be accidental.
