NORMAL, Ill. – Two Peoria-area girls basketball teams will be playing on the state’s biggest stage this weekend.
The Washington and Dee-Mack girls’ teams both won supersectionals Monday night to advance to the state finals in Normal.
The Washington Lady Panthers are heading back to CEFCU Arena after defeating New Lenox Providence Catholic, 73-47, in the Kankakee Supersectional. They will take on Arlington Heights Saint Viator in the Class 3A state semifinals on Friday at 11:45 A.M.
Last year, the Lady Panthers finished 3rd at state.
The Dee-Mack Lady Chiefs are going to state for the first time after defeating Kewanee Wethersfield, 45-43, at the Manlius Bureau Valley Supersectional. They will play in the Class One-A semifinals against Rockford Christian, Thursday at 11:45 A.M.
The winners of the state semifinals will play for state titles on Saturday, while those losing in the state semifinals must return that same night for 3rd place games.
