PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle accident with entrapment Thursday afternoon at the intersection of Knoxville Avenue and Wilhelm Road.
Battalion Chief Larry Carter said crews arrived at 1:26 PM to find a pick-up truck on its side with the driver trapped inside. The driver of the second vehicle had already managed to get out on their own.
Firefighters stabilized the overturned vehicle and used saws to remove the windshield to gain access to the patient. They were able to remove the female driver from the vehicle. She was then taken to a hospital for treatment.
Fire crews remained on the scene after the rescue to clean up debris and ensure all vehicles were removed.
