PEORIA, Ill. – The races for the Peoria-area’s two Congressional districts appear to be set.
There was only one contested primary race of a possible four in Tuesday’s elections in both the 16th and 17th Districts.
The race was for the Republican nomination in the 17th, with Dillan Vancil projected to be the winner over Julie Bickelhaupt. WMBD Radio estimates Vancil received around 58% of the vote with 99% of precincts reporting.
Vancil will face off against Democrat incumbent Eric Sorensen in November’s general election.
The general election in the 16th District will feature Republican incumbent Darin LaHood and Democrat challenger Paul Nolley, with both running unopposed on Tuesday.
