PEORIA, Ill. — The Center for Prevention of Abuse expands its services in Pekin.
The Center’s Executive Director Carol Merna told WMBD’s Greg and Dan, the agency serves all of central Illinois, and has been in Pekin for some time.
“We have an emergency shelter called Carol House of Hope. We have an office in the Tazewell County Courthouse for orders of protection. But, there isn’t room at the shelter for really good therapy services,” Merna said.
Thanks to a new partnership with CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates, the Center will soon open an office in CASA’s Pekin facilities. There they will provide on-site therapeutic services for adult and children survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking, as well as children ages 0-5 who have experienced or witnessed an act of violence at home or in the community.
Pam Perrilles, Executive Director of CASA of the 10th District, said the partnership with the Center for Prevention of Abuse will also provide special trauma-informed training for CASA staff.
“This partnership will help both agencies fulfill their missions while providing the highest level of care for victims,” Merna said.
