PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man has been sentenced to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to Home Invasion.
Peoria County State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos says 39-year-old Donald Criss received the sentence on Wednesday for forcing his way into his girlfriend’s apartment and pistol-whipping her.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of November 7, 2025.
Officers responded to the area of Wayne and Glendale in Peoria’s North Valley after a woman flagged them down, saying her friend needed help.
The woman, who had stayed overnight at the victim’s home, told officers that Criss had forced his way inside, but she was able to escape.
Responding to the home in the 700 block of Wayne Street, officers escorted the victim and her children out. Criss was then ordered outside and taken into custody. During a search, officers found a gun.
The victim said that Criss had struck her multiple times and choked her. Officers on-scene observed minor injuries to the victim’s face.
