PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria Fire Department is investigating a vacant house fire that occurred Saturday evening.
Fire Battalion Chief Mike Ralston said around 5:40 p.m., crews responded to a structure fire in the area of S. Lydia Avenue and W. Hayes Street.
Firefighters found a working fire in a vacant home. The fire was located in the basement and first floor of the home.
Crews faced hazardous conditions, including multiple holes in the flooring throughout the structure. The fire was brought under control without further extension.
No injuries were reported at the scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
