PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County Coroner’s office has identified the pedestrian killed after being struck by a vehicle on the Murray Baker bridge early Friday morning.
Coroner Jamie Harwood says the victim is 45-year-old Mark Thompson of Kewanee.
Emergency personnel and Illinois State Police responded to the westbound lanes of I-74 on the bridge shortly after 5:45 a.m..
Thompson was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center but was pronounced dead in the trauma room at 7:10 a.m., according to the coroner.
Harwood said autopsy results showed Thompson suffered blunt force trauma injuries that were incompatible with life and he likely died instantly.
Toxicology results are pending, per Illinois State statute.
