PEORIA, Ill. – A man who allegedly beat his elderly mother in a Peoria motel room has been indicted by a grand jury.
49-year-old Matthew Howarter was indicted on three counts of Aggravated Domestic Battery and one county of Unlawful Restraint, for the April 6th incident at the Super 8 on War Memorial Drive.
Prosecutors say Howarter attacked his mother for more than an hour, by allegedly punching her in the face and body, grabbing her by the neck, and throwing her into her oxygen tank.
The mother reportedly was unable to leave or call for help, but was able to contact the front desk once Howarter briefly stepped out of the room.
The mother reportedly suffered a brain bleed, multiple facial fractures, and broken ribs.
