PEORIA, Ill. – A Mexican bar and grill in Peoria is keeping the party inside this year for Cinco de Mayo.
In a social media post early Tuesday, Los Cabos Cantina and Grill says there will be no outside activities planned. The restaurant has hosted a Cinco de Mayo celebration each year since 2015.
The restaurant cites incidents from last year’s outdoor party, saying they were forced to close early due to capacity issues and continued fights, as well as alleged racist insults while trying to clear the parking lot.
The post states the restaurant cannot host an event “where we feel we are putting our staff, our volunteers, and the attendees who respect our rules in the way of danger.”
Los Cabos says it will still be open on Cinco de Mayo, but no reservations will be accepted and there will be no live entertainment or a DJ.
