PEORIA, Ill. – A man and a teenage girl were arrested after their alleged role in an armed robbery last month in Peoria’s East Bluff.
Police say the incident occurred April 22nd in the area of Arcadia and Indiana.
The victim reported the incident a week later, on April 29th. The victim told police the pair allegedly were armed with both a handgun and a knife.
Police say personal property was taken, and the victim was struck in the head with the gun.
20-year-old Matthew Chapai and a 16-year-old girl were identified as suspects and arrested Monday at a nearby residence. Police say a handgun and a magazine were allegedly recovered during a search of the residence.
Both were charged with Armed Robbery, Criminal Trespass to a Residence, and Aggravated Battery. Chapai was also charged with Possession of a Handgun under 21, Possession of a Weapon Without a FOID, and Harboring a Runaway. The 16-year-old was also charged with Unlawful Use of a Debit Card.
