PEORIA, Ill. – The two people who died after a domestic disturbance that turned into an officer-involved shooting in downtown Peoria have been identified.
The incident occurred Friday evening in the area of Hamilton and Madison, where a male suspect allegedly shot a female victim, with the male then struck by police gunfire.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says 42-year-old Ashley Stenson of Atlanta, Georgia was pronounced dead in the trauma room just after 7:00 P.M. He says Stenson died instantly after suffering multiple gunshot wounds.
Harwood says the male suspect is 41-year-old Cortez White of Saint Louis, Missouri and was pronounced dead just before 8:30 P.M. Harwood says Cortez also suffered from multiple gunshot wounds, and injuries that were inconsistent with life.
Illinois State Police continues to investigate the shooting.

PEORIA, Ill. – A Georgia woman has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting Friday night in downtown Peoria.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood says 42-year-old Ashley Stenson of Atlanta was pronounced dead in the trauma room just after 7:00 P.M.
Stenson was shot by a male suspect in the area of Hamilton and Madison just after 6:30 P.M., with the suspect being shot by police and later dying at a local hospital. Peoria Police says the incident was a reported domestic disturbance.
Harwood says an autopsy on Stenson shows she suffered multiple gunshot wounds and died instantly.
The shooting remains under investigation by Illinois State Police.
