WASHINGTON, Ill. – A pair of arrests have been made in connection to a Washington bank robbery last week.
Washington Police says 50-year-old Willie Franklin was arrested by federal agents in Fort Myers, Fla. on Wednesday. Franklin was identified last week as one of the two alleged suspects in the robbery of Heartland Bank and Trust on S. Cummings on June 4th.
The second suspect was identified as 48-year-old Marcellus Ward. Ward was arrested in Tazewell County on a Peoria County search warrant by Washington detectives working with FBI agents, as well as help from Morton and Illinois State Police.
Franklin had initially escaped on foot following a traffic stop west of Eureka, where the vehicle had crashed.
