PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police were called just before 3 a.m. Friday to the Dream Night Club, located in the 2200 block of SW Washington Street, on reports of a shooting involving at least two individuals.
Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said medics found the victim in an alley near the night club.
“My office was called out obviously to perform our initial investigation. On scene, we found the deceased, 24-year-old Patrick Moton,” Harwood said.
Moton was pronounced dead at approximately 3:39 a.m.
“Right now, I can’t comment on how many times he’s been shot, or where. We just don’t have that information right now until we have the autopsy done,” Harwood said.
An autopsy was scheduled for Friday afternoon.
Moton is Peoria’s 24th homicide victim of the year.
Peoria Police have arrested 20-year-old Tyrese T. Walker and 29-year-old Desmond N. Sanders for first degree murder.
When officers arrived on scene, they reported seeing a vehicle flee the scene at a high rate of speed.
They located that vehicle in the 2400 block of Garden.
The officers received information the occupants of the vehicle were hiding inside a house in the 2300 block.
Upon approaching the home, a K-9 accompanying the officers was attacked by a dog who was released from inside the home. That dog was shot to protect the K-9, who was expected to be okay.
The officers then set up a perimeter around the home and contacted one of five people inside. The five eventually exited without incident.
29-year-old Jasmine S. Walker was arrested for obstruction of justice.
Tyrese T. Walker and Sanders face charges of unlawful use of a weapon and no FOID in addition to their murder charges.
