PEORIA, Ill. — A Peoria man has been sentenced to three years in federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine.
Matthew T. Cosey, 32, was sentenced June 18 after pleading guilty to two counts of distributing methamphetamine. He will also serve three years of supervised release after completing his prison sentence.
According to federal prosecutors, Cosey sold methamphetamine on two occasions in Tazewell County in January 2023. Investigators arrested him after the second sale. Authorities said he was responsible for distributing a total of 167.2 grams of methamphetamine.
A federal grand jury indicted Cosey in February 2023, and he pleaded guilty in January 2026. The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Illinois State Police and the Peoria Police Department.
