PEORIA, Ill. — Here is some good news for Peoria commuters.
Eastbound War Memorial Drive between Prospect Street and Adams Street will reopen to two lanes starting this Friday, December 20 — weather permitting.
The Illinois Department of Transportation announced in a release the eastbound lanes still could experience intermittent closures this winter as work continues on the McClugage Bridge over Adams Street.
However, no lane closures are expected from March through October 2020 while the Murray Baker Bridge is closed.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be on alert for workers and equipment.
