PEORIA, Ill. – A pair of teens were arrested over the weekend after being found in illegal possession of handguns.
Officers found 18-year-old Maurice Jones Junior and a 16-year-old armed on W. Wiswall Street Saturday night.
Both were taken into custody and to the Peoria Police Department for questioning.
The 16-year-old was arrested on preliminary charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a handgun under 21, possession of a firearm without a valid FOID card and possession of firearm ammunition without a valid FOID card.
The teen was taken to the Peoria County Juvenile Detention Center.
Jones faces the same preliminary charges and was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
