PEORIA, Ill. – A 58-year-old Peoria woman is facing multiple charges after crashing into gas pumps and two vehicles at a north side convenience store early Sunday morning.
Officers with the Peoria Police Department were already on scene for an unrelated incident at the Circle K, 2900 NE Adams Street, around 1:13 a.m. when they observed a vehicle entering the parking lot at a high rate of speed.
The vehicle, driven by Christina Gibson, struck one unoccupied vehicle parked at a gas pump, the fuel pumps themselves, a second vehicle parked on the opposite side of the pumps, and the corner of the building.
The second vehicle was occupied by four people. Two of them sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment.
Officers made contact with Gibson following the crash and observed signs of impairment. After an investigation, officers determined Gibson was under the influence of alcohol.
When officers attempted to remove Gibson from the vehicle, she refused to exit and resisted arrest. Officers took her into custody without further incident.
Gibson was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Following medical clearance, she was taken to the Peoria County Jail.
Gibson faces the following charges:Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Failure to Signal, Resisting a Peace Officer, and Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Seat Belt.
