PEORIA, Ill. – Two men are facing serious charges after Peoria Police discovered a stolen machine gun and illegal drugs during an early morning stop Tuesday on the city’s north side.
Officers responded to the 2400 block of North Sheridan Road around 1:46 a.m. after receiving a report of illegal drug activity. Upon arrival, officers located a parked vehicle with three male occupants inside.
During the investigation, officers developed probable cause to search the individuals.
A search of Lamontre L. Walker, 30, turned up a firearm equipped with an automatic switch. The weapon was also reported stolen.
Officers found illegal drugs on Elliot M. Hughes, 37. A third occupant was released from the scene without charges.
Walker faces the following charges: Possession of a Machine Gun/Automatic Weapon, Aggravated Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm Without a Valid FOID Card, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon.
Hughes faces the following charges: Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver, Unlawful Delivery of Cannabis, and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis.
Both Walker and Hughes were transported to the Peoria County Jail.
