PEORIA, Ill. –Peoria Police have released details in a pair of recent gun arrests from over the weekend.
Officers reportedly caught two men with illegal guns, one late Saturday night and the other in the predawn hours Sunday.
In the first incident, officers with the Peoria Police Special Investigations Division say they suspected 19-year-old Marshawn J. Tolliver when officers walked up on a group gathering outside a home along North Delaware Street and East Republic a litter after 11 p.m.
Tolliver is believed to have ditched a .40 calibre handgun on a porch and then run from police.
They caught him.
Meanwhile, several hours later, during a traffic stop early Sunday after 2 a.m., police say they found a loaded firearm under the front passenger seat of a car being driven by 41-year-old Jimmie D. James.
Both men now face charges of Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and possessing no valid FOID card.
Both men were taken to the Peoria County jail.
