Woman dies in high-rise fire in downtown Peoria

PEORIA, Ill. – A woman is dead following an apartment building fire in Peoria.

Crews responded to the blaze Sunday morning at the B’nai B’rith Apartments in the 200 block of West Sam J. Stone Avenue. 

Officials say multiple residents at the senior-living complex were taken to the hospital, including 70-year-old Lynn Hinkley, who later died. 

Damage is estimated at $300,000, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
