PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting and the death of an infant in Peoria early Friday morning.
Deputies were sent to the 3500 block of Yorkshire around 6:09 a.m. regarding a vehicle fire near Abby Circle.
Responding officers checked a nearby residence at 3511 Yorkshire, where they found a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital where she died. Two other children inside the home were unharmed.
After the vehicle fire was put out, first responders found an infant deceased inside the car. Investigators say the baby was the child of the woman who was fatally shot, and they believe the vehicle was driven from the scene of the shooting before crashing and catching fire.
An investigation is underway to determine whether the fire was intentionally set.
Authorities are actively searching for 24-year-old Jeremiah Duncan (DOB 8/24/2002), who is believed to be in the area and may be on foot.
Anyone who sees Duncan should not approach him and call 911 immediately.

The address indicates the shooting happened in the Royal Oaks Estates trailer park off Rt. 8.
