PEORIA, Ill. – Ameren is putting an additional $10 million into programs aimed at helping customers in Illinois and Missouri manage their energy bills.
The utility says the funding will replenish or relaunch assistance programs for income-qualified households, small businesses, nonprofits, active-duty military members and veterans. The assistance can help eligible customers pay past-due balances and manage high energy bills.
In Illinois, additional funding is going toward three programs.
Warm Neighbors Cool Friends provides matching grants for income-qualified households. Ameren is also relaunching its Non-Residential Hardship Program for small businesses and nonprofits facing financial difficulties and its Military Program for active-duty military members and veterans.
“Every customer deserves access to safe, reliable energy, especially during difficult financial moments,” Ameren Illinois customer assistance manager Kim Bond said. “This assistance will help Illinois families stay connected to an essential service and give them room to get back on more stable footing.”
Ameren did not specify how the $10 million will be divided between its Illinois and Missouri programs.
Through September, Ameren says its customers received more than $107 million in total energy assistance. The company also offers energy efficiency and weatherization programs.
