PEORIA (25News Now) – The last section of Moss Avenue will reopen Friday at noon, concluding a construction project that started over a year ago.
Peoria Public Works said Moss between North MacArthur Highway and North Sheridan Road will reopen. The traffic signals at Moss and MacArthur will also return to normal operation and all side streets will reopen.
Public Works urged drivers to be mindful of the functioning traffic signals and to use caution in the area.
Lane restrictions will be removed and normal traffic will resume at the following locations:
- Moss from MacArthur to Sheridan
- North Garfield Avenue at Moss
- North Union Street at Moss
- North Douglas Street at Moss
- Sheridan at Moss
The project began in March 2025 and has cost $10.5 million, with the complete reconstruction of the road, storm sewer improvements, new curb and gutter, and enhanced pedestrian accommodations.
The 45th Moss Avenue Sale earlier this summer returned to its namesake location on Moss between Western Avenue and MacArthur Highway, after being forced to relocate onto the Bradley University campus.
