PEORIA, Ill. — Nearly ten years after the Peoria murder, Breon Augusta has pleaded guilty in the death of 20-year-old Michael Malone.
Police said in June that Augusta, 31, turned himself in regarding the Dec. 26, 2010 homicide.
Officers were called that night to a shooting in the 1800 block of W. Howett Street where they found Malone with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
During an investigation, detectives received information leading to Augusta’s identification as a suspect. He turned himself in on June 12, 2019 and was taken into police custody.
Augusta’s sentencing is set for February 26.
