PEORIA, Ill. – The Peoria man accused by the Peoria County State’s Attorney of being a “serial rapist” has pleaded not guilty.
Peoria County Court records indicate DeMarquis Turner, 39, pleaded not guilty Thursday in three cases on charges of Criminal Sexual Assault.
Turner is accused of committing at least three sexual assaults over the last decade — at least one of those allegedly involving a victim under the age of 18.
State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos believes there may be other unreported victims, and that the cases the grand jury filed charges in were solved using DNA evidence.
Turner could go to trial as soon as October 17th. He’s jailed on a total of $1.25 million bond in the meantime.
