PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert just before 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of NE Monroe. 11 shots were fired.
Peoria Public Information Officer Amy Dotson said a man fled the scene on foot, throwing a gun away during a chase with police before he was captured.
“The male was found to have a gunshot wound to the leg, and transported to a local hospital, where is he also under arrest for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon,” Dotson said.
Dotson said there were warrants out for the man’s arrest in other jurisdictions.
The incident remains under investigation.
