PEORIA, Ill. — At approximately 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, a Peoria Police officer, responding to an intrusion alarm, was headed south on Sterling Avenue, when his cruiser collided with a car attempting to turn left from Bainter Lane onto Sterling.
Public Information Officer Amy Dotson said the officer’s injuries were serious, but not life-threatening. The officer was transported to a local hospital.
“The driver of the second vehicle had to be extricated, but was conscious and alert at the scene. That driver was also transported to a local hospital,” Dotson said.
The driver of the third vehicle did not report any injuries, and their vehicle sustained only minor damage.
The accident remains under investigation.
