PEORIA, Ill. – It’s well known that gas prices are still well above, say, two years ago, and while we’re still a long way from that, price declines are still continuing at the moment.
GasBuddy.com says its survey of Peoria gas stations shows an everage of $3.88, down 4.7 cents from a week ago.
AAA, meanwhile, says its Peoria-Pekin metro average is at $3.906, a decline of 5.6 cents.
Most parts of the state continue declines, but GasBuddy says the Champaign area actually saw an increase in the last week.
Analysts with GasBuddy say some issues have cropped up, like the shutdown of the largest refinery in the Midwest — not far away in Whiting Indiana, that are causing a close eye to be kept on prices.
The national average according to GasBuddy is currently at $3.81 a gallon. AAA says the national average is $3.85.
