PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria Police Department was searching Wednesday for a man who allegedly robbed the W. Reservoir Metro PCS store.
The incident reportedly occurred Tuesday shortly before 5 P.M. when the suspect entered the store, pretended to look at phones, waited for patrons to leave the store, and then told employees he had a weapon and demanded money.
Public Information Officer Amy Dotson called it a bizarre sequence of events…
“It’s certainly unusual for someone to come in and act as though they’re shopping, so to speak,” she said.
“It’s not something we’ve seen very often, but that is, in fact, what the individual did.”
The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No injuries to employees were reported.
The suspect is a black male, wearing a surgical mask, a blue jacket, black pants at the time of the incident.
Dotson asked individuals or businesses with any information pertinent to the case to contact the Peoria Police Department.
The PPD said in a release the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
