PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. — Jeremy Simmons, of Peoria, was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years in prison for killing his mother, 63-year-old Theresa Ann Simmons in August 2019.
Peoria Police were called to the woman’s home in the 700 block of W. Loucks after she was found on the floor, bleeding from the head.
Theresa Ann Simmons was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.
Jeremy Simmons, 28, allegedly hit her over the head with a hammer.
Simmons pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of first-degree murder.
Peoria County Court records show Simmons must serve 100% of his sentence of his 25-year sentence.
