PEORIA, Ill. — Should you worry about the coronavirus?
Troy Erbentraut, Director of Preparedness and Response at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, told WMBD’s Greg and Dan Show, the risk to the general public here in Central Illinois is low.
“I just want to stress that, I don’t know that there’s really any fear of when the media or CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) or somebody says this will spread. It will spread because people move back and forth from place to place. Just like anything else,” Erbentraut said.
“This coronavirus is actually hitting harder the elderly and those with weakened immunity or weakened respiratory systems due to other medical complications,” said Lori Grooms, Director of OSF Saint Francis’ Infection Protection and Control, Quality and Safety.
Grooms said, as with any virus, the best way to avoid contracting the virus is to wash your hands regularly and avoid traveling to areas where the coronavirus has already spread.
