PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police said a man taken Wednesday night into custody could be connected to Thursday morning’s fatal shooting on E. Hillcrest Place.
24-year-old Anthony Robinson was tracked down by officers around 10:20 P.M. on Wednesday after approximately seven rounds of gunfire were heard in the area of Nebraska and Prospect by an officer on patrol in the area of Republic and East St.
Around that time, the PPD received two ShotSpotter alerts saying eight rounds were fired in the 1300 block of E. Hillcrest.
When the officer on patrol drove to the area where he heard the shots fired, he observed Robinson running from the area.
Officers retrieved a firearm in Robinson’s flight path.
Robinson was taken to the department, interviewed, and then arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and Obstructing Police.
