PEORIA, Ill. — Traffic was stalled on westbound War Memorial Drive in Peoria Friday night after a car struck a utility pole just south of Scenic Drive.
Initial reports said a vehicle was on fire with possible victims inside.
Fire crews arrived on the scene at approximately 9:51 p.m., to find the car fully engulfed in flames.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Nate Rice said the occupants escaped before the vehicle was engulfed. They were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
