SPRING BAY, Ill. — Local deputies say two people are now in custody following an hours-long standoff in Woodford County Monday.
Initially, officers reported their response and the ensuing standoff shortly before 11 a.m. Following a six hour effort, we’ve learned the standoff in Spring Bay has now ended and two individuals are facing charges.
Woodford County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword told 25 News one of the suspects, identified as 34-year-old Stephen J. Werner, had allegedly robbed an Uber driver of cash and then fled.
A 28-year-old woman identified as Caitlyn L. Brewer, who is believed to be Werner’s girlfiend, was also taken into custody on charges of Obstruction of Justice.
Both have reportedly been transported to the Woodford County jail.
The sheriff’s offices of Woodford and Peoria counties, Illinois State Police and the Central Illinois Emergency Response team were all on scene throughout the standoff.
More details surrounding the circumstances of the law enforcement response are still unknown, although investigators have pointed out that neither suspect was armed at any point.

SPRING BAY, Ill. – Authorities are on the scene of a police-related standoff in Woodford County.
Sheriffs Department Chief Deputy Dennis Tipsword says a man fled from deputies in Spring Bay and is now not coming out of a home.
Tipsword tells 25 News it was not originally a domestic-related incident, but the man’s girlfriend is also inside the home.
Village Hall in Spring Bay is being used as a staging area for the Central Illinois Emergency Response Team.
The public is being urged to stay inside, and stay away from the area.
